The Apple iPad - The New 3rd iDevice - What It Means for the Future of the App World:

Well I'm sure this won't be the first time you've heard about it, but today Steve Jobs officially announced "The iPad", aimed at being "a cross between a computer and a smartphone". Although I have to honestly say it seems much more like a larger iPhone/iPod Touch than an actual computer, the device will most definitely revolutionize personal computing and entertainment systems. But how does this affect the App Store & the World of iDevices as we know it so far? With HD Capabilities, "iBook" Reading, the Ability to Download & Use Any Already Existing iPhone/iPod Touch App and Display It Much Larger + Exclusive iPad Apps, the system is definitely a huge step forward in the subject our whole website revolves around. The iPad means adding more personal experiences to the Apps we already know & love! Plus exploring new ones on a 9.7 inch LED-backlit touch screen with a 1024-by-768-pixel resolution. Basically, we expect that the iPad will for the most part give iDevices new meaning & some new purposes and not to mention a more in-depth way of using App Store Applications. With two models (WiFi/WiFi & 3G), the iPad comes in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions starting at a surprisingly low price of just $499. In a way, you could somewhat compare the new Apple iPad (which starts shipping in Late March/April) to the Nintendo DSi, which also gave new purpose to its original device and making it an even more useful and casual everyday piece of technology. The computer functions of the device may still need to be expanded on though as from what we know from the information that has already been announced/revealed, it gives off the feeling of essentially being a Giant, Fancier iPod Touch than a real cross between an iPhone & a Mac. But who's to say this isn't a good start? It's already giving the eBook Reader, "Kindle" a run for its money. So Here's to the Advancement & Future of the App Store & the 3 iDevices...HOORAY!
