The Apple iPad - The New 3rd iDevice - What It Means for the Future of the App World:

Author: TapDatApp // Category:

Well I'm sure this won't be the first time you've heard about it, but today Steve Jobs officially announced "The iPad", aimed at being "a cross between a computer and a smartphone". Although I have to honestly say it seems much more like a larger iPhone/iPod Touch than an actual computer, the device will most definitely revolutionize personal computing and entertainment systems. But how does this affect the App Store & the World of iDevices as we know it so far? With HD Capabilities, "iBook" Reading, the Ability to Download & Use Any Already Existing iPhone/iPod Touch App and Display It Much Larger + Exclusive iPad Apps, the system is definitely a huge step forward in the subject our whole website revolves around. The iPad means adding more personal experiences to the Apps we already know & love! Plus exploring new ones on a 9.7 inch LED-backlit touch screen with a 1024-by-768-pixel resolution. Basically, we expect that the iPad will for the most part give iDevices new meaning & some new purposes and not to mention a more in-depth way of using App Store Applications. With two models (WiFi/WiFi & 3G), the iPad comes in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions starting at a surprisingly low price of just $499. In a way, you could somewhat compare the new Apple iPad (which starts shipping in Late March/April) to the Nintendo DSi, which also gave new purpose to its original device and making it an even more useful and casual everyday piece of technology. The computer functions of the device may still need to be expanded on though as from what we know from the information that has already been announced/revealed, it gives off the feeling of essentially being a Giant, Fancier iPod Touch than a real cross between an iPhone & a Mac. But who's to say this isn't a good start? It's already giving the eBook Reader, "Kindle" a run for its money. So Here's to the Advancement & Future of the App Store & the 3 iDevices...HOORAY!

Appload™ #6 - N.O.V.A., James Cameron's AVATAR, Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, & MORE!!!

Hola...It's Time for Tap Dat AppAppload #6!

  • James Cameron's Avatar by Gameloft is a game based off the hit movie. The game's story is technically a "prequel" as it uses different character names but the story is still essential the same as that of the film...Graphics are stunning, controls are functional, gameplay is passable & for the most part, easy. With all that being said, it's still a fun playthrough that you will spend some time beating and then possibly beating again under a different difficulty level, so especially if you're a fan of Avatar on the big screen...GET for $6.99
  • Gangstar: West Coast Hustle by Gameloft has been out for a little while and now faces rivalry from Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Gangstar is still a big winner though: Full 3D Graphics, Huge Explorable City, Tons of Missions, Nice/Usable Controls. And although it's overall pretty easy, it's still a lot of fun and really addictive too. Not to mention that it is only half the price of GTA, at $4.99...GET
  • N.O.V.A. by Gameloft is the second real 3D FPS (first person shooter) to appear on the App Store, but for $6.99, you might ask why you should buy it when Eliminate (the other FPS) is FREE. Well, N.O.V.A. is different from Eliminate and resembles the Halo series a lot more...almost to the point where I feel like Gameloft could easily be sued for clearly copying the games. Also, N.O.V.A. includes a full story mode, unlike Eliminate. Overall, it's just a different experience and you can't really compare the two. It's fun, but at the same time, because it's so close to Halo, you feel this sickening feeling like you are just playing some second-rate knock-off throughout your time progressing through the game. But if you really like Eliminate, you will definitely like N.O.V.A. as well...GET
  • I Dig It Expeditions by InMotion Software, LLC is a fantastic sequel game which won an award at our 1st Annual Tap Dat App™ App Awards Ceremony 2009. It is a huge expansion to the first "I Dig It" by letting you explore different environments and new features, jewels, etc. The gameplay is great with hours and hours full of stuff to do that will keep bringing you back to Tapping that App. At $2.99...GET
  • Sway by Illusion Labs is another fantastic 3D game which won an award for having the most innovative controls at our 1st Annual Tap Dat App™ App Awards Ceremony 2009. This game has tons of cute charm that reminds us of something seen in LittleBigPlanet for the PlayStation 3. It has tons of levels and characters to unlock as well. Very Well Done Overall...Easy GET for $4.99
  • Labyrinth 2 by Illusion Labs is an extremely fun puzzle-ish type game where you move your iDevice around trying to get a ball into the hole in the maze. Although this may sound simple, it gets more complicated with tons of different obstacles to spice up gameplay with slightly 3D graphics. AND, it has a fully functional level creator & downloader so the fun literally never has to end! GET for $4.99
  • SpringFling is a unique partially 3D game by Alex Schwartz that is similar to Doodle Jump but with an extra zing to it! You move your finger down to launch the spring/noodle-type character up and up and up until you reach various checkpoints, power-ups, etc. It's simple...yet more complex than Doodle Jump. It just brings a lot to the table and you should definitely check it out. (Also Special Thanks to the Developer for Providing Us with a Promo Code for this Game, Please Follow @SpringFlingGame on Twitter!) GET for $.99
